Ferrari Deflect Decision to FIA
Ferrari said the decision of whether to install a chicane before Turn 13 at Indianapolis should be made by the FIA and not the team
The Italians were put under pressure when the other nine Formula One teams agreed they would not race in today's US Grand Prix without a chicane. But Ferrari did not attend the teams' meeting and would not lend their support to the teams' stance, stating that it was up to the FIA to decide on the issue.
"Ferrari are just preparing for the race," team spokesman Luca Colajanni said. "We are focused on this 100 percent and there are a lot of rumours, but it is up to the FIA to decide.
"It is not a matter to be happy or not happy [with a chicane]. We have seen a letter from the FIA and if the other teams ask again it is up to the FIA to decide."
FIA race director Charlie Whiting had written Michelin this morning, telling the French company that erecting a chicane was "out of the question."
