Ferrari aim for perfection in remaining GPs

Ferrari need to win all remaining six races of the Formula One season if they are to collect the world championship title, the team's technical director Mario Almondo reiterated

Ferrari are currently lying second in the constructors' championship, 19 points behind rivals McLaren, while Kimi Raikkonen and Felipe Massa are third and fourth respectively in the drivers' championship standings.

Raikkonen is 20 points behind leader Lewis Hamilton, while Massa is a point behind his Finnish teammate.

But the Istanbul track, hosting the Turkish Grand Prix this weekend, along with Monza and Spa-Francorchamps - the next two Grand Prix venues on the calendar - are expected to suit the Ferrari F2007 characteristics.

And Almondo believes the team could still clinch both titles if they make no mistakes in the upcoming races.

"We have to do well, not only this coming weekend but also at all the remaining events this season if we really want to win the world titles," the Italian told autosport.com.

"As [Ferrari] president [Luca di] Montezemolo has said a few days ago, we have the potential to win all the races but in order to achieve that, we have to be perfect.

"I think that this year, [the F2007] has shown itself to be competitive more or less everywhere, right from the start of the season.

"Clearly, on some tracks we might come up against more difficulties than at others, but we have still been competitive.

"We have confidence in our potential, but we are equally aware that we are up against very stiff competition."

Almondo added that his team's spirits are high, and the Italians are entering the final part of the season with determination to reclaim the title they had last won in 2004.

"Everyone is concentrating hard and there is a strong will to win," he said. "We know we have had a few too many problems and we have also worked on our procedures so that certain situations do not arise again.

"As I have already said, we are confident in our ability, but in Formula you are not racing alone."
