Felipe Massa had a wild weekend on his first visit to Monaco, although his retirement in the race was beyond his control. On Thursday he looked like an accident looking for a place to happen, and he was lucky to escape unscathed after a huge spin across the chicane, just missing the barrier collected by Sauber predecessor Karl Wendlinger in 1994. Later in the session he did things properly, wiping a corner off the car at Tabac. In qualifying he was held up by pole contender David Coulthard, and showed his frustration by ruining the last laps of not just DC but several others, including Jarno Trulli and Jenson Button. In the race he held up a queue of cars, and when Enrique Bernoldi finally got by the Arrows man was dispatched by his countryman at the very next corner! After taking a penalty Massa's race ended with a huge shunt at Ste Devote after an apparent brake failure. The youngster has shown signs of speed this year, although more than one of his rivals has been angered by his on-track behaviour. Adam Cooper spoke to the Brazilian
