Felipe Massa Q&A

Felipe Massa has done a good job in his rookie year, making the points on three occasions thus far. But he also has a wild streak, and both sides were evident at the British GP. He spun off at the first corner after finding that it wasn't so easy to brake on the grass at Copse, and then had no fewer than four more incidents before the end of the race! But along the way he set some good lap times in the wet, and ran as high as sixth for a while. Is he is future superstar? The jury is still out. Adam Cooper talked to the Brazilian youngster

"Yes, I'm quite happy. I have two points less than my team mate, and I want to improve more, and carry on like that learning more until the end of the year. And maybe score more points. I hope so, anyway!"

"I think our tyres are not so bad. I'm quite happy with the tyres, but for sure at some tracks Michelin tyres are better, at some tracks Bridgestone tyres are better. It's a big fight. But I think our car is also quite good, and I hope to improve with the car also."

"I think this year is much more difficult than last year. If you see the Renault team is really good, and also maybe sometimes Toyota. It's a big fight this year, and last year was not easy, but much better than this year."

"At the start I tried to overtake Jacques Villeneuve, but there was not enough space. I was so quick at the start, and I put my car at the side of him. I put two wheels on the grass, and it was wet, so I spun. After that I was a little bit nervous, and I made some more mistakes, which was not so good. After that it was a good race, although I did one pit stop more than the others. In the middle of the race I was sixth, and it was really possible if I did two stops to carry on in sixth position."

"I'm satisfied, but we always want more."

"The track was quite dirty, and when you were on grooved tyres it was very easy to go out, and I was also a little bit nervous, so it was easy to make a mistake. After, when it started to rain, it was much better, and I was really quick in the rain and also in the dry conditions. Also at the end of the race I was quite quick."

"We were planning two stops, but I stopped really early, and then my intermediate tyres were completely finished, and then I stopped again."

"There are a lot of other tracks where I never raced, and I scored points."

"Yes, but a lot of other drivers also know Nurburgring. So it's not a problem. In qualifying I did the same lap time as my team mate. It's not so bad, it's part of the learning."
