F1 will miss Irvine says Schuey

Michael Schumacher led a host of Formula 1 personalities who claim that Eddie Irvine will be missed following the Ulsterman's decision to quit the sport after failing to secure a drive with Jordan for 2003

"It is really a shame," said Schumacher, who raced alongside Irvine at Ferrari between 1996 and 1999. "When Eddie and I were at Ferrari we got along very well and had a lot of fun, perhaps because we are so different.

"I think it is not only me who will miss him. There will be a piece of glamour disappearing from Formula 1."

Eddie Jordan was responsible for introducing Irvine to F1 in the last two races of the 1993 F1 season and it's ironic that the Jordan team's need for a driver who brings backing has effectively ended it too.

"It's sad for F1 that Eddie can't continue," said Jordan. "He started his F1 career with Jordan and scored points on his debut. Since then with Jordan, Ferrari especially and Jaguar, he had shown great style and lots of character."
