Ecclestone's Argentinian agenda
The latest contender for a fixture on the changing grand prix circuit is Argentina. There are reports that a meeting took place last week between Formula 1 supremo Bernie Ecclestone and Argentina's vice president Daniel Scioli, with Formula 1 on the agenda
Although the details of the meeting remain secret, Ecclestone has said recently: "We would like to go back to Argentina. It was a good race and we could just hop over from Brazil."
The last time the country held a race was back in 1998 and in total there have been 20 races there since the first one in 1953. With China and Bahrain due to hold races from next year, and an expanded 17-race provisional calendar in place, there are more and more countries registering an interest.
The list currently includes Turkey, Russia, Egypt, Holland, Portugal and The Lebanon. There is also talk of a second race in the United States. All of this ups the pressure on tracks like Silverstone, which is fighting to retain the British Grand Prix.
