Doornbos eager to seize Red Bull chance

Dutchman Robert Doornbos is looking to fully seize the opportunity to race in the final three races of the season

Doornbos, Red Bull Racing's third driver, will race alongside David Coulthard in the final races in China, Japan and Brazil following the team's decision to let Christian Klien go.

The Austrian driver said he is considering his options for Formula One next year after turning down an offer from Red Bull to compete in the Champ Car series.

Twenty-four-year-old Doornbos last raced in 2005, when he competed in eight races for Minardi.

The Dutchman said he was feeling sorry for Klien, but admitted he will grab the opportunity with both hands.

"Of course I am very happy," Doornbos told autosport.com during testing at Jerez. "I only found out on Sunday in the evening as I was just about to leave. I knew something was going on but you never know until you get told what is really happening and it was on Sunday.

"I feel sorry for Christian but in F1 when you are given a chance, you have to grab it with both hands.

"I do know the three circuits as I drove there for Minardi last year. I suppose i will be very bored on Friday from now on, and get up early on Saturday for once. I am not complaining, I will have three days here, which is great to prepare myself."
