Domenicali says pressure not a problem
Ferrari boss Stefano Domenicali says he has no qualms about dealing with the huge pressure on him to resurrect his team's fortunes this season
With the Maranello-based outfit having not won since last year's Brazilian Grand Prix, and only managing two podium finishes so far in 2009, Domenicali has found himself on the receiving end of questions about his ability to turn things around.
However, he believes his vast experience of working at Ferrari has taught him that criticism is nothing out of the ordinary - and he is confident that he has what it takes to deliver.
"I'm team principal since a couple of years and the pressure as you can imagine is very high since the first day," said Domenicali in an interview with the Shell website.
"But I'm in Ferrari from almost 20 years so I know what it is all about. And people in life have a very short memory, but this is part of the game. I am really not very worried about the fact that when you have a bad start, of course immediately people think, 'look the team hasn't performed very well so the team boss is not performing well.'
"This is part of the game, this is part of the challenge that a manager has to take on board. You don't have to think that you're a star when you win the championship as we did, and as I did, in the past.
"I don't feel negative if I don't win. I feel a great challenge to come up with my team - of which I'm very proud - to make sure that we have the best approach, the best spirit to react. This is the challenge that I personally have and that I want to transfer to all the people that are working with me."
Ferrari is hoping that improvements to its car, including a modified floor and rear wing, plus revised rear suspension, will help it deliver an improved performance at this weekend's Hungarian Grand Prix.
