Domenicali: No magic to Brawn success

The former Honda squad managed just 14 points last season and its future was not secured until the eleventh hour after the Japanese manufacturer pulled out of the sport at the end of 2008.

However, the team's decision to shift its focus to 2009 very early paid off this season, and Brawn is on the verge of securing both titles.

Domenicali says Brawn's form is no miracle, but rather the result of the decision to focus on 2009 early.

"I am not surprised," said Domenicali. "For sure they did a great job and I think they were able to prepare the car in the best way they could, because they had a lot of time to prepare it.

"And we don't have to forget it. I think the reasons why were so strong were quite clear and I am very happy for him because of what they did, but nothing is magic.

"With the times and resources, I think you can do a good job. And I think that Brawn team did a fantastic job this year and this is the reason why I think they will win the titles - and I want to extend my congratulations when it will happen to Ross and his team but it is too early now."

The Ferrari boss also reckons Brawn's competitiveness is not a one-off, and he feels the team will be fighting at the top in the future too.

"I have a lot of respect for Ross, and more than that he is a friend," he added.

"For sure he will do whatever he can with the team to ensure that he will have a continued story in the future for F1, but things may be different, but for sure we need to expect the job that they have done, so for sure they will be there and fighting for the championship in the future."
