McLaren team chief Ron Dennis made his intentions for 2002 perfectly clear: he is eyeing the World Championship title.
Talking to reporters in England, the Briton clarified what he believes are his team's goals for the upcoming season, stating: "I don't want to dwell too much on what happened in the past, more on the future. If we can lift our game then hopefully that means we can win races and the Championship, which remains a realistic aim.
"We are trying to raise our game and trying to make the right decisions and hopefully that will contribute to the right competitive nature."
Dennis also said he sees David Coulthard as the likely McLaren driver to pick up the title, should the team be in that position.
"David Coulthard can win the world title," Dennis said. "The experience that he has will provide him with his best chance yet to win a World Championship. But a driver doesn't just achieve that solely on his own performance. It depends on the car he has and the team around him."
