De la Rosa to Stay with Arrows, Says Manager

Spaniard Pedro de la Rosa will drive for Arrows again next season, his manager Raimon Duran confirmed on Friday.

Spaniard Pedro de la Rosa will drive for Arrows again next season, his manager Raimon Duran confirmed on Friday.

Duran said that De la Rosa learned he will be retained by team principal Tom Walkinshaw earlier this season although Arrows have yet to announce officially their 2001 driver line-up.

"Pedro will be at Arrows next year," Duran said. "He will be staying next year but it is up to the team when they will officially announce it.

"Tom Walkinshaw told Pedro he would stay with the team in the summer and we stopped talking to other teams about a possible move from then on."

The 29-year-old was linked with a move to Prost this week to partner Frenchman Jean Alesi.

Duran said that he had talked with the French team earlier this year but discussions stopped when de la Rosa's future with Arrows was guaranteed.

"The Prost rumours are absolute rubbish," he added. "We talked with Prost six months ago when we were going around the paddock but once we knew Pedro was staying with Arrows that was the end of the talks."
