De la Rosa Dominates Jerez Test - Day Two

Spain's Pedro de la Rosa dominated the second day of testing at the Jerez circuit, topping the times by nearly a second ahead of the closest of his rivals.

Spain's Pedro de la Rosa dominated the second day of testing at the Jerez circuit, topping the times by nearly a second ahead of the closest of his rivals.

De la Rosa continued at wheel of the revised McLaren MP4-19B the British squad intend to use at the French Grand Prix next month.

The test driver, also the busiest man today, completed a total of 110 laps at the Spanish circuit, finishing nearly a second ahead of compatriot Marc Gene and teammate Alex Wurz in the second McLaren.

Gene and Williams teammate Antonio Pizzonia joined the test today, and while the Spaniard worked on tyre testing, the Brazilian tested some new components in the FW26. Pizzonia finished at the bottom of the times after 67 laps.

The BAR-Honda team also joined the Jerez test today with two drivers. Japanese Takuma Sato, who scored his maiden F1 podium at the United States Grand Prix last Sunday, was back in action as the BAR team began their preparation work for the French Grand Prix.

Sato worked alongside test driver Anthony Davidson.

Ricardo Zonta was again the only driver in action for the Toyota team, the Brazilian winding up as fifth quickest after 54 laps.

Testing resumes tomorrow.
