Davidson happy to be a test driver

Briton Anthony Davidson says he prefers to continue testing at the Honda team rather than racing outside of Formula One

Davidson, who has been often linked with other Formula One teams, will continue as Honda's third driver for the fifth year in a row.

This year, however, he will get the chance to drive the third car on Fridays ahead of each Grand Prix.

The 26-year old impressed in the same situation in 2004, when he drove BAR's third car.

"I want to stay in F1, I always have, it is the place I want to be," said Davidson. "I don't want to be doing any other championships around the world. I could do, but I prefer to be here.

"I am happy to be here, so that stops everyone saying, 'so, why aren't you racing?'. I do want to be racing, but I want to be racing in F1 and if I cannot do that then I want to be testing in F1. So let's get that straight. It is good to be here, this is my fifth full season with the team.

"I cannot believe it has gone so quickly and I am now 26 years old and desperately want to get out there racing. It is still in my blood and with such a big organisation and such a big team, and watching it growing and growing every year as those five years have gone on, it has been immense and we are really strong as a strong."

After BAR were unable to test a third car during Grand Prix weekends last year, Davidson is hoping to return to the spotlight this season.

"I think that 2004 was a perfect year for me personally and the team. We had a very good year as well. I got a lot of publicity out of it and it put me on the map," he said. "Everyone knew who I was at the end of the season, and I think I really believe it helped us score great achievements that year.

"I think like we have seen with other teams last year, it really does benefit them running a car on a Friday and it will be good to go back to all the circuits again. I think I will be even stronger this season than I was in 2004."
