Button ready for maiden F1 win

British driver Jenson Button is optimistic he will be able to finally score an overdue maiden victory in Formula One this season

"That's the aim," said Button at the launch of Honda's new car in Barcelona.

"Everyone with works teams want to be coming in to win races, that's our aim as well. We're going to be challenging for wins and if we're challenging for wins this year then it has to be from the first race.

"It's going to be a great year, last year wasn't great for us. 2004 was pretty good, but I think we've learn from our mistakes and we've learnt what was wrong with the 007 car. This season is going to be a step in the right direction and a big step hopefully."

Button is yet to win a race despite having taken 100 Grand Prix starts.

The Honda driver, who has started from pole position twice in his career, will have a new teammate in Rubens Barrichello, who joins the team after six seasons at Ferrari.

Button said there would be no problems working with Barrichello, but warned the Brazilian not to expect any favours on track.

"Working together shouldn't be difficult, we get on pretty well we know the importance of working as a team," said Button. "We're not winning races yet and we need to work together as much as possible to keep improving the car and I'm sure we will.

"But when we get on the circuit it will be very different circumstances. We will be rivals on the circuit, we're in the same machinery, we'll be together on the circuit many times this year - it's down to us now to give everything."
