Davidson bullish on chances for Fuji

Anthony Davidson is confident that Super Aguri's poor weekend in Belgium was a one-off, as they head to Fuji determined to hold on to their seventh place in the constructors' championship

The Briton and teammate Takuma Sato endured their least competitive weekend of the year at Spa-Francorchamps, as they failed to get their car tuned in to the low-grip track conditions of the weekend.

But ahead of Super Aguri's home race in Fuji this weekend, Davidson is bullish that the team can return to the strong form they have shown earlier this year.

"Fuji is in a different aero configuration to Belgium, so Spa should be the only track where we suffered like that," he said. "We kind of knew it was going to be like that after the test. We knew we were just going to have to fight on through

"Going to Fuji has been on my mind for a long time now and I am sure we are not going to be 21st and 19th on the grid. We will be stronger there. And in China and in Brazil the team went well last year, so probably will do again this year.

"You have these tough races every now and again. And we haven't had many this year. Spa was by far our worst weekend, but it makes you appreciate the highs, that is for sure."

Super Aguri are just two points ahead of sister team Honda Racing in the constructors' championship, and the fight is likely to be of keen interest to their Japanese fans at Fuji.

But Davidson says he is able to keep the pressures of the battle out of his head.

"Obviously it is on everyone's minds here, but I drive the car as quick as I can and there is no more I can do," he said. "Therefore it is not really on my mind, it is more of a team concern.

"I think both drivers should be happy with what we have done this year, and I think it is going to be interesting to see how it pans out for the next couple of races. Everyone is so reliable now, that is the problem. Scoring points is tough."
