McLaren driver David Coulthard on Saturday backed Ferrari to win the British Grand Prix at Silverstone after claiming Rubens Barrichello or Michael Schumacher will outperform polesitter Juan Pablo Montoya.
Williams' Montoya claimed a sensational pole in Saturday's qualifying to leave Barrichello and Schumacher second and third on the grid with Coulthard sixth behind Ralf Schumacher of Williams and his own teammate Kimi Raikkonen.
But Coulthard, who tangled with Montoya in the last race at the Nurburgring, claimed that the Colombian will not have the package to stop Ferrari from winning.
"If you look at all year Williams turn up the wick in qualifying really," he said. "Yeah, we have not really got a wick. That's why we tend to be where we are. But I don't think that Williams will be as quick as Ferrari in the race."
Coulthard, a two-time winner of his home Grand Prix, ruled out his own chances of victory this weekend and insisted he will have to have luck on his side to win.
"It's going to take a lot of luck and a lot of bad luck for Williams and Ferrari," he said. "But I think we'll be stronger in the race than we have been in qualifying. We'll do the best we can and hopefully it will be a good race for us.
"If we can go away from here knowing that we got the most from the car and possibly with a podium I'll be happy."
