Coulthard targets points finish

David Coulthard has set his sights on a top six finish at this weekend's US GP

Earlier in the season the Scot was in contention for the runner-up spot in the drivers' championship, but once Ferrari put its weight behind Rubens Barrichello second place gradually disappeared out of view. However, he can still nick third place from the Williams drivers, and a third straight points finish at Indianapolis would help his cause.

"I have enjoyed the previous two US GPs very much and am looking forward to this year's race," he said. "I've secured points finishes in both of those races, and this is a record I am looking to continue."

Team-mate Kimi Raikkonen has shown great pace in his first year with the team, but has suffered with terrible reliability. Indy is a track he likes and he's hoping to make it to the chequered flag on Sunday.

"The Indy grand prix circuit offers a good mix of challenges, with the sweeping banked corner and the twisty infield section in the centre of the oval," he said. "I remember from last year that the track is fun to drive, and am hoping to put in more laps during the race than I did in 2001!"

Raikkonen retired on lap three of last year's race after the halfshaft broke in his Sauber.
