Coulthard Targets British Record

The Red Bull Racing driver, who was one of the major surprises after a strong run to fourth place in the season opening Australian Grand Prix, needs to finish in sixth place or higher at Sepang to eclipse Nigel Mansell as the highest scoring Briton in F1 history.

Coulthard currently has 480 points, with Mansell's 482 putting him at fifth overall in the all-time standings behind Michael Schumacher (1186), Alain Prost (798.5), Ayrton Senna (614) and Nelson Piquet (485.5).

Speaking about the fact that he stands so close to the British record, Coulthard said: "It's great to be right up there, it is a tribute to my own ability and to the teams I have been with in my career and no-one can take that away. I may not have won a World Championship but I have plenty to be proud of.

"If people want to write me off that's up to them. I'm here not because I need to be financially, fortunately, but because I want to be. I love motor racing and it's too soon for me to walk away from all of this."
