Cosworth ready to supply Jordan
Cosworth has admitted that it would be interested in supplying engines to Jordan if the team ends its current partnership with Honda
There has been season-long speculation that Honda will concentrate on just one team next year, most likely British American Racing, although Eddie Jordan says that he has a firm contract with the Japanese manufacturer for 2003.
A senior Cosworth management figure said in Austria: "The question hasn't been asked yet but EJ has said good morning a few more times than usual..."
Cosworth currently supplies both Jaguar and Arrows and has indicated that it is not interested in supplying back of the grid teams although a team with the potential to run competitively is of interest.
Jordan used Cosworth power to finish fifth in the constructors' championship in its debut F1 season back in 1991 but alleged non-payment of bills resulted in a court case. Sources suggest, however, that the matter is now water under the bridge and that there would be no barrier to a resumption of the relationship.
