Button reports track was tricky
Track conditions at the Circuit de Catalunya proved very difficult, according to Jenson Button, who still managed to set the third best time on the first day of practice for the Spanish Grand Prix
"The conditions were very difficult during the first session because of the wind and the state of the track, but everybody was in the same situation," said the Renault driver. "The car was tricky to drive - twitchy at the rear and understeering in the long corners.
"Even so, I managed to set a good time during the afternoon, and we now need to work further on the balance of the car."
Team-mate Jarno Trulli had a trying day and also struggled to find a set-up balance on the slippery circuit. "I lost time this morning with an engine problem, and then concentrated on set-up during the afternoon," he said. "The car is still difficult to drive both at high and low speeds."
The engine problem was reported to have been minor, but took time to solve. Trulli ended up 10th fastest.
