Button podium is unlucky 13th

Jenson Button may have got fed up with the constant references to passing the 100 Grand Prix mark without that maiden victory, but the Honda Racing driver's run to third place in Malaysia has earned him another unenviable record

His Sepang podium was the 13th of his career and means he has now got the record for scoring the most podium finishes without actually winning a race.

Button's achievement surpasses the previous record-holder, Stefan Johansson, who took the final podium of his winless career in the Onyx at Estoril in 1989.

It is not all bad news for Button on that record, though, because Mika Hakkinen once had the accolade of having 15 podium finishes without a win before his triumph in the 1997 European Grand Prix. The Finn went on to win the world title the following year.

Button's podium also brought one other record within his grasp. He has now finished 12 consecutive races in the points - something that no British driver has managed since Jim Clark pulled off the feat across the 1963 and 1964 campaigns.
