British GP woe won't distract Red Bull

Red Bull Racing have vowed not to let the 'massive' disappointment of their non-score in the British Grand Prix overshadow the encouraging progress they are making with their car

The team delivered the best qualifying performance of their short history when Mark Webber put his RB4 on the front row of the grid at Silverstone.

But it all went wrong in the race when Webber spun on the first lap and then ran off track several times in the difficult conditions to finish outside the points. That slump down the order only added to the misery caused by David Coulthard's first lap crash.

Although unhappy with the result, which means Red Bull Racing have never scored a point in the British GP, team principal Christian Horner says his team must not lose heart as they fight for fourth place in the constructors' championship.

"We have just got to keep pushing," he said. "We had our best-ever qualifying at Silverstone, our first front row, and we haven't converted it, which is massively, massively disappointing.

"It's almost a jinx, this circuit, for our team. I think it's the only circuit apart from Brazil that we haven't scored a point at and we were determined to break that here. Unfortunately it just didn't go our way."

Horner says the team are encouraged by the development steps they have made with their car and, although they are targeting improvement in the RB4's mechanical grip, he sees no reason why they cannot be competitive in the next race at Hockenheim.

"The high speed corners around here have suited the car very well," explained Horner. "The car works very well aerodynamically, but we still need to develop the car mechanically as well. That's coming along though. I don't see any reason why we can't be competitive at Hockenheim in two weeks' time."
