Briscoe Delighted with Friday's Work

Australian Ryan Briscoe was delighted with his day's work following Friday's practice for the Italian Grand Prix at Monza.

Australian Ryan Briscoe was delighted with his day's work following Friday's practice for the Italian Grand Prix at Monza.

Briscoe, Toyota's third driver, was the quickest of the Japanese squad's trio, outpacing racing drivers Ricardo Zonta and Olivier Panis, who finished 14th and 18th fastest respectively.

Briscoe, who became the team's third driver after Zonta was promoted to a racing role to replace Cristiano da Matta, was back in Grand Prix action after a massive accident during practice for the Belgian Grand Prix two weeks ago.

"I am extremely happy with the work we managed to achieve today," said the young Australian. "We had a few difficulties with the car set-up in the first practice, but the team worked well to make improvements over the lunchbreak.

"Consequently, the car was in good shape right from the start of the second session. We completed both sets of long runs perfectly with no problems whatsoever. Combined with the work that we were able to complete at last week's Monza test, I hope we can be quite competitive this weekend."
