Bridgestone Vow to Keep on Pushing

Japanese tyre manufacturer Bridgestone plan to continue to push this season despite scoring their ninth win in eleven races on Sunday, technical manager Hisao Suganuma said.

Japanese tyre manufacturer Bridgestone plan to continue to push this season despite scoring their ninth win in eleven races on Sunday, technical manager Hisao Suganuma said.

Michael Schumacher was again able to outperform the Michelin-shod Williams and McLarens to score his sixth French Grand Prix win and to also clinch his fifth world title, the third in succession.

Suganuma, however, said that they will not sit on their laurels and aim to score more wins in the remaining six races of 2002.

"A huge amount of work has gone into Ferrari's collaboration with Bridgestone and I am delighted that it has paid off so well for everyone" said Suganuma. "However, there are still six races to go this season and we must not lose sight of the fact that there is more work to be done, both to help Ferrari secure the Constructors' Championship and to help all our other teams score more points.

"I was satisfied with our performance today and without the drive-through penalty I am sure Michael could have won by a large margin. Nonetheless, it's clear our competitor raised its game for this race so we will be back to work tomorrow to find further improvements. Our aim is to keep on winning."

Schumacher was the only Bridgestone runner in the points in today's race, with the other point-scoring positions being filled by Michelin-shod cars.
