BMW: Sauber Deal Expected by June

BMW motorsport boss Mario Theissen says talks over a supply of engines to the Sauber team next season are well on their way

Theissen revealed there are still some problems to be solved but admitted he expects the deal to be concluded by next month.

"What I can confirm is that two months ago we entered into discussions with Sauber," said Theissen in Barcelona today. "It's well on its way. It's not just about money, it's about more - how to co-operate and make it work.

"Some problems have to be solved to have our engine in their car next year. I expect an agreement before the end of June. I think there is quite a high probability that we end up with the team.

"We have the desire to be successful in Formula One. In the past we have always preferred to focus on one team. We have agreed to supply a second team because of a shortage of engines, not to be more competitive."

Theissen said last month Sauber would get the same engines as Williams, but there would still be a special relationship with the British squad.

Sauber are currently using Ferrari engines badged Petronas.
