BMW release Glock to test for Toyota

The German recently signed to join the Japanese manufacturer for 2008, but it was unclear whether or not he would be allowed to test before January 1 because he remains under contract to BMW until the end of the year.

But discussions between Toyota and BMW have resulted in Glock being allowed to run at Jerez, although he will have to wear an unbranded helmet and overalls. He will also not be allowed to take part in any public relations or marketing activities for Toyota.

Glock is due to run on all four days of the test, with the second car being driven for two days each by Jarno Trulli and the team's new test driver Kamui Kobayashi.

In an interview with Italian magazine Autosprint this week, Glock has said that his target for 2008 is simply to get regularly in the points.

"I don't know what I'll be able to do during the championship," he said. "It also depends on how the car will be, and the new regulations. It looks to me like more is demanded of the driver next year. There will be the matter of managing the tyres, which tend to wear more quickly.

"I know I'd like to get consistently in the points. That would already be a good result for a first season."
