Best qualifying slot for Jordan

Jordan achieved its best qualifying position of the season when Giancarlo Fisichella secured sixth place on the grid for the Canadian Grand Prix.

Fisichella scored his first podium finish in Canada and has a tremendous record at the Circuit Gilles Villeneuve but was still not expecting to qualify in the top six.

"That was definitely more than we expected," the Italian said. "The mechanics did a really good job, we improved the set-up step-by-step and on my last run I did a particularly good lap. I've done well here in the past and I feel that anything is possible. I hope to score some points obviously but my real target is to get onto the podium, which I have managed four times in the past here."

Takuma Sato suffered a big engine blow-up and then had to transfer to the T-car, which was set up for Fisichella. In the circumstances he did well to put the car 15th on the grid, 0.81s slower than his team mate.
