Baumgartner Happy to Finish

Hungary's Zsolt Baumgartner was pleased with his performance at the Italian Grand Prix, which was only his second Formula One race.

Hungary's Zsolt Baumgartner was pleased with his performance at the Italian Grand Prix, which was only his second Formula One race.

"I'm happy that I could finish the race and that the car was reliable," said the Hungarian driver after coming home in 11th position. "It was a good experience and I am pleased with finishing 11th just behind Giancarlo. For my first complete race, I think I did a good job."

Baumgartner, standing in for an unfit Ralph Firman for the second consecutive race, had failed to finish at the Hungarian Grand Prix three weeks ago due to a mechanical failure in his Jordan.

The Hungarian driver finished behind his Italian teammate Giancarlo Fisichella, who had problems during the formation lap and was forced to take the start from the pitlane before going on to finish 10th.

"I had an electrical problem at the start of the formation lap so we stopped to sort that out and changed the strategy at the same time to make it one stop," he said. "I was last, but finished 10th, which is not too bad. It was quite difficult because the car was heavy but I drove as hard as I could."
