Barcelona 2: Coulthard in rain

David Coulthard set the fastest time for McLaren following a wet second day of testing at the Circuit de Catalunya in Barcelona today (Wednesday)

The Scot, continuing the development programme on the new MP4-19, set a best time of 1m28.114s, nearly 12 seconds slower than the pace he achieved in the dry yesterday.

After topping the timesheets yesterday, new Renault tester Franck Montagny had to content himself with the second fastest time today, 0.823s slower than Coulthard.

Alex Wurz was third quickest in the MP4-17D, ahead of Jaguar ace Mark Webber. Toyota protégé Ryan Briscoe was fifth fastest, ahead of his fellow F3 Euroseries graduate Christian Klien.

Heikki Kovalainen and Jose-Maria Lopez, two products of Renault's driver development programmes, both ran for the French team. The Finn was the faster of the two, despite completing just eight laps. Ricardo Zonta rounded out the times for Toyota.
