Barcelona 2: Badoer again

Luca Badoer and Ferrari continued to top the timesheets on the second day of testing at the Jerez circuit in southern Spain today (Wednesday).

Jenson Button provided the closest competition to Badoer, setting an impressive time just 0.149s slower than the Italian's best in BAR's concept car. Encouragingly for the Briton, given his troubles with the machine yesterday, the car managed 84 laps of the circuit today.

Sauber-bound Felipe Massa set the third fastest time in his Ferrari, ahead of Takuma Sato's 2003-spec BAR.

Ferrari's third driver, Luciano Burti, was fifth quickest, ahead of new Sauber signing Giancarlo Fisichella. The Italian completed aerodynamic, brake and tyre testing, and continues to impress his new team.

"Although this was only Giancarlo's second day with the team, it felt like he has been around for a long time," said Sauber engineer Jacky Eeckelaert. "It's a real pleasure to work with him."
