BAR to Use New Radio System in Malaysia

The BAR Honda team will introduce a new radio system for this weekend's Malaysian Grand Prix in a bid to prevent a recurrence of the error that cost them a points finish in the season-opening race in Australia.

Jenson Button and Canadian Jacques Villeneuve were on course for a possible point-scoring finish in Melbourne, but the Briton dropped down to 10th when his teammate Villeneuve came into the pits at the same time as him.

Canadian Villeneuve said he misheard his call because of crackling on the radio and the team spent time at last week's test session working on a new system to improve the communication between pits and driver.

Japanese test driver Takuma Sato undertook the work and said: "We tried a new aerial and the sound is better. It's best that the team has a new one for the next race."

The team showed encouraging signs at Albert Park that they could be on the pace this season and ironing out simple mistakes could be vital for their bid to claim fourth place in the Championship this year.
