BAR happy for Panis to give Jacques a hard time

BAR new boy Olivier Panis is giving Jacques Villeneuve a hard time and team boss Craig Pollock says he is pleased about it. But he insisted the ex-world champion will not take it lying down

The Frenchman finished fourth in Melbourne before he was penalised for a yellow flag infringement, while Villeneuve crashed out after four laps trying to overtake Ralf Schumacher. And in Friday practice in Malaysia, the Canadian was eight-tenths of a second slower than the ex-McLaren test driver.

"He is giving Jacques a hard time and that is why we hired him," said
Pollock. "We want two drivers finishing one behind the other and its fantastic to see. But Jacques will do what he has done in the past and step up his game.

"Jacques on Friday is not the same as Jacques on Saturday, we he won't just drop his arms and expect to be beaten. He will start fighting."

But Pollock, Villeneuve's closest friend and mentor, says he has never seen the reclusive Canadian get on so well with his team mate.

"I've never seen Jacques get along as easily with somebody - they both speak the same language and it looks like a good friendship is being built up."
