Badoer bets on Ferrari 1-2 for Brazil

Michael Schumacher and Ferrari are going all out for the 1-2 finish they need at the Brazilian Grand Prix to stand any chance of winning either championship

That is the view of Ferrari test driver Luca Badoer, who says he has been left under no illusions about his team's ambitions for the final race of the season during testing at Jerez in Spain this week.

The Italian claims that the team's aggressive programme to the test, allied to Schumacher's intense focus on the work required, have pointed to his team's ambitions.

"Michael is very quiet - but only because is concentrating hard on his programme," Badoer told autosport.com. "His programme is based entirely on the Brazilian race. He is testing solutions for tyre, engine and the mechanical side.

"He is focused and in his mind he only wants to win."

Badoer insists his team are considering only one outcome from Interlagos next week - a 1-2 for Schumacher and teammate Felipe Massa. The championship outcome will then rest on whether Fernando Alonso and Giancarlo Fisichella can get the points they need.

When asked what should be expected from Brazil, Badoer said: "Just first and second. We are pushing very hard to do that - and it is our plan.

"I think it is possible. The car is now very competitive and Michael will be fantastic. The only thing we cannot control are other people, other drivers. So for the rest we will have to see."
