Italian test driver Luca Badoer was again quicker than Sauber's Felipe Massa on the second day of testing at the Mugello circuit in Italy.
Ferrari driver Badoer again concentrated on tyre testing, working with two different F2002 chassis. The Italian completed a total of 115 laps, 67 laps with chassis 217 and 48 with chassis 218.
Badoer's best time was 1:22.234, over a second quicker than Massa, the other car on track. The Sauber driver set a fastest time of 1:23.782 over 75 laps.
"I have to thank our engineers for the work they did last night," said Massa. "We had formulated a good direction for today during our test yesterday, and I am happy to say that the car went really well as a result of their efforts to improve that further.
"The car felt a lot better and I'm delighted to have set the best time the team has ever recorded here with a decent fuel-load in the car."
Badoer will continue working at Mugello tomorrow, while Massa will be replaced by teammate Nick Heidfeld at the wheel of the C21.
