Audetto wants customer cars allowed

The Concorde Agreement currently outlaws the use of customer cars but, with the rules being opened up for 2008, Audetto wants to bring the change in the rules forward.

According to sources, he has put together a petition that he wants signed by all teams to get the rules changed for next year.

It is understood that there is general support for the move, although some team principals want to make sure that any change in the rules only allows the use of year-old cars, and not current ones.

Audetto has not confirmed that he is circulating the petition, but he has said that it would be logical to change the chassis rules if plans for engine homologation are brought forward.

"It makes sense, if they bring forward the engine rules for 2007, to change the chassis regulations as well," he told autosport.com. "It is a matter of principle."

Scuderia Toro Rosso's car this year is virtually identical to last year's RB1, but the car has not been deemed to be in breach of the regulations because the intellectual property rights of the car are owned by the team's parent company Red Bull.
