Burti: Alesi Just Needs to Feel Happy

Jordan may not be able to give Jean Alesi everything he needs but they should make him feel wanted, according to his former Prost teammate Luciano Burti.

The French Formula One veteran traded places with Heinz-Harald Frentzen this month after the German was sacked by Jordan before his home Grand Prix. Alesi has since said he decided to leave the French team after receiving a legal letter from team boss Alain Prost following criticism of the team.

"Jean needs to be happy to perform," Brazilian Burti told a news conference on Thursday ahead of Sunday's Hungarian Grand Prix. "I think Jordan can supply that. I'm not sure that he's going to get all the equipment that he needs like the pedals, because he brakes with the right foot.

"I'm not sure if he can do that at Jordan. He likes to have the clutch as a pedal as opposed to on the steering wheel, so he can be upset if he doesn't have those little things. He's going to be a guy who is pushing all the time. He has a great talent, very good car control and if Jordan gives him what he needs he will do the job," added the Prost driver.

Frentzen also said he wished Alesi, the oldest driver in Formula One at 37 and a veteran of 196 Grands Prix, all the best in his old car but also wondered how the volatile Frenchman would get on.

"Our cars were specially made for us, (Italian) Jarno (Trulli) and me, with two pedals so it may be a challenge," he said. "I think they have some work to do to make it work for Jean."
