GPWC Schedules Meeting with Teams in Munich

Team bosses will meet Formula One's major carmakers in Germany next week to discuss the manufacturers' plans for running their own championship from 2008.

"All the teams are meeting with the manufacturers on Thursday in Munich," said McLaren team principal Ron Dennis at the Brazilian Grand Prix. "I'm led to believe that the documentation that will be presented to the teams is a complete and comprehensive proposal and has had significant input from all the teams and legal representation.

"I don't think there are any bad surprises. I think the document has only got better over time. There is no desire for any of the teams to go in a different direction," said Dennis, whose team are partnered by DaimlerChrysler's Mercedes.

"There is a definite desire to try and have a more equitable situation in Formula One for everybody."

The manufacturers have set up their own company, GPWC, to create the framework for a championship when the current Concorde Agreement between teams, the governing FIA and Formula One's commercial rights holders expires at the end of 2007.

The GPWC are also talking to the banks who control the commercial rights following the failure of Germany's Kirch media group.
