Arrows Will Fly Higher in 2002, Says Bernoldi
The Arrows Formula One team should make a big leap up the rankings in 2002, Brazilian driver Enrique Bernoldi has said.
The Arrows Formula One team should make a big leap up the rankings in 2002, Brazilian driver Enrique Bernoldi has said.
"This year we are going to be closer to the front of the grid," he said at the Autosport International show. "Our new package gives us a much better chance than last year. We will have much more power and I've seen the data from the wind tunnel, so I'm sure the aerodynamic package will be better too."
The team scored just one point last year, finishing the season behind all except Minardi. But this year they have ditched their Asiatech engine for the same highly-rated Cosworth ones used by Jaguar. Bernoldi has yet to score after drawing a blank in his debut year but was confirmed again for 2002 on Friday.
"The new engine and car will give us a realistic chance of scoring points," he said. "The goal is to be really competitive, but we're going to have to do it step by step."
Bernoldi told fans in an interview at the show that his 2002 teammate was sure to be either Dutchman Jos Verstappen or German Heinz-Harald Frentzen. He said he did not have a preference.
