Arrows to miss rest of season
The Arrows Formula 1 team is almost certain to miss the final two grands prix of the 2002 season, according to a story in this week's AUTOSPORT magazine
The team's Leafield factory has been closed and the remaining employees sent away to await news of their future.
Arrows boss Tom Walkinshaw is still chasing a deal with American investors, but a lack of progress over the contract negotiations has cast fresh doubts over whether the team will survive into next season.
However, despite having already missed four races this season, Arrows is being given breathing space by the sport's governing body, the FIA.
An FIA statement said: "The FIA has noted the continuing failure of Orange Arrows to participate in recent F1 event.
"If this failure were due to insolvency, Arrows would lose its right under the Concorde Agreement. However, the FIA has no evidence that Arrows's absence is due to insolvency rather than some other cause."
