Alesi ready for Prost challenge
Jean Alesi will drive for Prost in 2000, the team announced today
The Frenchman, who won the 1995 Canadian Grand Prix, will spearhead the French team's assault on next year's F1 championship.
He announced after the Hungarian Grand Prix that he would be leaving Sauber at the end of the season.
The 35-year-old, who has scored just one point this season, will replace either Olivier Panis or Jarno Trulli.
'Before I made this decision, I wanted a clear review of the technical project of the team and I am satisfied with the program,' explained Alesi.
'I am motivated by the idea of driving for Alain [Prost]. Certainly it will be a difficult challenge, but I am very confident in the means that will be put at my disposal to be successful.'
Prost said of the appointment, 'I am very happy to see Jean in our team. I appreciate his enthusiasm, his motivation and his panache.
'With the great experience he has in Formula One, Jean will contribute to the further development of our team. I can't wait to see him behind the wheel of our car.'
