Retiring Jean Alesi believes Formula One races have become too boring, and criticised the sport for lack of on-track entertainment.
"Formula One races are antiseptic now," the Frenchman told reporters. "There is no overtaking and no emotion when you watch them. I was one of the few drivers to overtake, and that is a good point for me."
Alesi also warned the drivers not to detach themselves from the fans, stating his best memories, after 201 Grand Prix starts, are those where he was in contact with his followers.
"When I was with Sauber," Alesi recalled, "I had a problem with the car and stopped (on track). When I got out of the car, it's crazy, but I had the same feeling as I did when I won in Canada, in 1995: the people cheered for me and were completely crazy.
"I like to live like a normal person and I like to feel this popularity. It's so nice to feel the people liking you, and the F1 drivers are losing that good feeling. It's a shame to not use this fan contact."
