Albers gets superlicence miles

Christijan Albers made the most of treacherous weather conditions at Misano in Italy on Wednesday to complete the necessary mileage in a Formula 1 car that he needs for his superlicence

Albers gets superlicence miles

With near freezing temperatures and snow turning to heavy rain during the day, Albers was unable to conduct any meaningful testing work - but did put in the 21 laps that he needed to prove he has enough experience of an F1 car to be given a superlicence.

"There's not really a great deal to say," said Albers. "The weather made it very difficult to drive, and although I was able to complete sufficient laps this morning to fulfil the requirement for my superlicence, there was very little we could do of any technical significance."

The weather conditions eased enough for Minardi to allow Euro 3000 champion Nicky Pastorelli his first taste of an F1 car, but his running was limited to just two stints of four laps before the team decided that it should park up for the day.

"Once on the track, everything went well and we were able to complete the assigned laps without damaging the car," said Pastorelli. "Despite the weather, it has been a very positive experience, and I want to thank the whole team for making my job easy. I really hope to be able to continue my relationship with Minardi in the future."

Minardi's three-day test at Misano in Italy will finish on Thursday.
