Kubica set to stay in Italy for rehab
Robert Kubica is set to stay in Italy to start his rehabilitation following his accident, according to his manager Daniel Morelli
Kubica is scheduled to undergo his final operation on Wednesday before he can begin the long rehabilitation process.
Morelli said the Pole is likely to stay at the Santa Corona hospital given how well he has been treated so far.
"Tomorrow [Tuesday] we'll have a meeting with medical staff and we'll look at the situation: continuity is the most important factor to pursuit," Morelli was quoted as saying by IVG.it on Monday.
"We need maximum attention, and I think we'll carry on staying here because there are no better solutions.
"The hospital certainly hasn't needed our promotion: I feel that, in light of the situation, it is the most appropriate decision for Robert, also in order to stay in constant contact with the specialists and the medical staff that has operated him, especially at a delicate time such as the beginning of the rehabilitation phase."
Morelli also denied reports about Kubica's condition worsening following his latest operation.
"I'm sorry for what has happened, that information was absolutely wrong and unfounded: the course is progressing as normal and the clinical and psychological picture is encouraging in light of the two heavy surgery operations he has undergone.
"Medical checks carried out today [Monday] have had a positive outcome, and on Wednesday he will undergo the final surgery on the elbow. I've spoken for a long time with Robert this afternoon, we have joked and discussed not only his physical conditions and the recovery phase that awaits us, but also the tests held at Jerez in Spain."
