Alonso: Red Bull friction no advantage

Fernando Alonso does not expect any friction inside Ferrari's main title rival Red Bull Racing to boil over onto the track in the Brazilian Grand Prix

On the back of comments from Mark Webber that he felt Red Bull chiefs emotionally favoured his team-mate Sebastian Vettel, there has been intense focus this weekend on the situation within the Milton Keynes-based outfit.

But although any trouble between Webber and Vettel could be a help to Alonso as he bids to seal his third world championship title in Brazil today, the Spaniard does not expect to be able to take advantage of anything that is going on at Red Bull Racing.

"I think there are some talks about them [Red Bull], but I think the more talks there are maybe the more careful they are," said Alonso about the situation.

"Obviously there will be a lot of eyes on them at the start and I am sure nothing is going to happen."

Alonso said there was no shock that Red Bull had been quickest of the title contenders in Brazil qualifying.

"Red Bull in front of us, no surprise - as that has been the normal thing in the last 15 races, so it is more or less expected.

"In a way we are happy. Obviously pole position is our aim but in a difficult qualifying like this we saw it was very easy to go out of Q1, very easy to go get knocked out in Q2 like Jenson [Button] so in the end we saved a tricky day with a fifth position, which is normally our position in the dry because normally Red Bulls are ahead of us and Lewis [Hamilton] sometimes."

And although pole position man Nico Hulkenberg could complicate matters for the title contenders, Alonso has said he is not worried about what the German does.

"He is in front of everybody which is welcome for us because if he takes the victory it will be a present for us," said Alonso.
