Grapevine: Button slips down Castrol Rankings
Jenson Button slipped a spot in the Castrol Rankings this week as his lack of activity played into the hands of IndyCar Champion Dario Franchitti
Franchitti's third place at Watkins Glen last weekend helped him to boost his score and moved him up two spots from ninth to seventh.
The two drivers he overtook were his IndyCar rival Ryan Briscoe and Button, whose lack of activity meant that his Castrol Rankings score did not change. Button now lies eighth with Briscoe ninth.
Sebastian Vettel maintained the number one spot for a 15th straight week ahead of McLaren driver Lewis Hamilton. Either could lead the way next week.
The highest-ranked driver in action last weekend was NASCAR Sprint Cup Champion Jimmie Johnson, who maintained his fourth place despite crashing out at Daytona.
Kevin Harvick won in his Richard Childress Chevrolet, gaining three places himself to lie 18th while Kasey Kahne (25) also made ground by finishing second.
Grand Prix winner Ralf Schumacher (142) made up 18 places after taking his maiden DTM pole position at the Norisring while fellow Mercedes man David Coulthard (636) gained 124 places, despite only finishing 13th.
