Kubica in no hurry to decide his future

Robert Kubica says he is no big rush to sort out his Formula 1 future with Renault, even though potential options elsewhere on the grid have officially closed off for him

The Pole was strongly linked with a move to Ferrari for next season, but the Italian outfit last week confirmed that it would be retaining Felipe Massa until the end of 2012.

That move makes it virtually certain that Kubica will now remain with Renault, with contract talks set to be settled after the British Grand Prix when performance clauses in his contract are understood to be activated.

But despite his expected decision to stay put, Kubica says thoughts about his future will be put on the backburner for now.

"I don't know about the situation at other top teams," said Kubica in Canada. "I heard Ferrari signed with Felipe, I heard Red Bull signed with [Mark] Webber but, to be honest, I am not thinking about next year.

"At some point I will have to make a decision about the future and then I will make it, but I am too busy thinking about the current situation and races."

Renault is keen to build its team around Kubica, and team principal Eric Boullier said he expected talks to open with the Pole soon now that the Ferrari situation was sorted.

"Definitely with the recent rumours about the link between Ferrari and Robert it is now closing all the rumours and I think it will not affect very much the driver market," said Boullier in Montreal. "And we can now sit down and discuss properly with Robert his future with us."
