Button not underestimating Red Bull
Jenson Button believes Red Bull Racing will remain a major threat for victory at this weekend's Canadian Grand Prix, even though the track will not play to the strengths of his rivals' car
McLaren's straightline speed advantage makes it favourite for the win in Montreal, but Button said on Thursday that he reckons Red Bull Racing will still be quick even though its downforce advantage will not give it such an edge.
"I think because there aren't any high speed corners they won't have that big an advantage, but I don't think you can forget that they have got very good mechanical grip also," said Button. "Also the way their car works, there are a few things there that are different to most, and I think those things will help them around here with so many traction areas.
"They are still going to be quick - so you cannot forget about Red Bull. For sure they will be up the front, but this is a circuit which works for us quite well.
"There are long straights, we are very efficient, and I think braking for us is a reasonably strong point. Mechanically we are also quite strong, so I don't think we will be alone out front.
"Red Bull will be quick and I think even Mercedes will be competitive, and you never know about Ferrari. They have been up and down the last couple of races but this is such a different circuit to Turkey that they might be competitive here also."
