Vettel happy with points despite no win

The German finished in second position in a race dominated by Webber, who moved into the championship lead after taking his second win in a one week.

Vettel conceded he did not have the pace to beat Webber today, but was still delighted with his points' haul.

He is now tied on points with Webber.

"Especially in the beginning and the restarts I wasn't able to keep up with him, there was a big difference. Later on when I felt the grip he was too far off. There was no real point to make an effort to catch him, with overtaking him being so difficult.

"To be honest I had to look more in my mirrors. Robert was pushing quite hard and it was quite difficult to get away from him at the restarts. I was going more sideways that straight, it was quite difficult.

"It was our optimum today and I am very happy. A lot of good points - and those count at the end of the year."

Vettel admitted the start was crucial to finishing in second after overtaking Renault's Robert Kubica, who was starting from second.

"Initially I had quite a bad feeling as the revs dropped quite a lot, but I felt my start was better than Mark's, who was ahead. Then I saw Robert, I could see his wheelspin and was diving down the inside and the sprint to Turn 1 was not that long.

"I was able to get side-by-side and a bit ahead, which was obviously quite important. For sure it was the key to finishing second today."
