Webber: Arena layout good for Red Bull
Jenson Button and Lewis Hamilton have been warned not to expect any home boost because of the new Silverstone layout, with Mark Webber confident it will play to the strengths of Red Bull Racing
With last year's Silverstone event having been dominated by Red Bull, Webber thinks the tweaks that have taken place to Silverstone over the winter will not slow his outfit down at all.
"I think it is," said Webber when asked if he felt the layout was still good for Red Bull Racing.
"Our car fortunately is competitive on all venues, which is great for us. The new sector has a high speed corner entering it, with a slow technical section and a bit of undulation. It should be good."
Webber said he was also delighted that Silverstone had secured the long-term future of the British GP.
"I am absolutely wrapped that we have managed to keep the British GP in the UK. There was a bit of arm wrestling with Bernie, but we should be proud that we have F1 and MotoGP at the same place."
Early simulations suggest the long kink after Abbey will see F1 cars reach speeds in excess of 185mph.
