Q & A with Nico Rosberg

Nico Rosberg had his first full day of testing with the new Mercedes GP W01 on Tuesday, the German enjoying a positive session

AUTOSPORT heard from Rosberg about his day, and about his relationship with team-mate Michael Schumacher.

Q. How was your day today?

Nico Rosberg: It was good. It was nice to get into it and have a complete day because yesterday I didn't really have the chance to start to feel at home in the car and learn all of the systems, the steering, brakes and things like that. From that point of view it was good and I could really get into it and attack.

Q. Did you use both tyre compounds?

NR: Yes I did. But we struggled a bit with the temperatures coming down in the end and the supersoft didn't work at all.

Q. Was the seating position better than yesterday?

NR: No. We just measured now because I complained that I can't see anymore and I had dropped down 1.5cms during the day. No wonder I couldn't see anymore.

Q. Why isn't Michael having this problem?

NR: He also mentioned that visibility is not great. It's just a matter of where you position yourself in the car. It's just a matter of moving the seat up and down. It's easy to change, but I don't understand why I dropped during the day.

Q. Are you aware of Rubens's comment about you? When asked what his advice to you would be he said 'get out of there'?

NR: I am confident from last year especially that I can do well. I don't have a problem. It's going to be challenging of course because I'm up against one of the greatest of all time.

Q. Does that comment surprise you coming from another F1 driver?

NR: I'm not sure. From his point of view, he was beaten for six years I guess so maybe from him he doesn't surprise me that he says that.

Q. But it doesn't worry you that so many of his team-mates have said similar things about being in that position?

NR: I am also quite strong and I respect people. I'm not too worried and in general I'm going to go for it and we will see what comes out of it. If I am ahead, great. If I am behind, I need to work harder.

Q. Any feeling on how the car behaves with a lot of fuel on board?

NR: Actually I was quite happy about that. I was a bit concerned running 150kg but when I ran it it just felt a bit slower than less fuel. So it didn't feel like a truck. It felt like the same car just a bit slower.
